Mythlantics Performance Programme
21 & 22 June 2025
Mythlantics, a Performance Programme curated by Alice Rekab and STARLING, featuring artists, musicians and film-makers who share migration as a formative experience.
Mythantics takes place within the exhibition Hawa’s Sleeping Room by Alice Rekab. Taking its name from a photographic collage piece by Alice, the exhibition provides a space to encounter and engage with numerous works by the artist while incorporating architectural features of the STARLING space. In Hawa’s Sleeping room we collaborate, celebrate and make ourselves at home.

They combine process-based methods, microtonality, and extended vocal techniques to explore psychoacoustic phenomena such as beating, interference patterns, and the interplay between the voice and space.

Derived from the word for cyan— “aoi”, a color suspended between sky and grassland—symbolizing a realm that is neither entirely grounded nor completely out of reach. Within this ethereal space, a fish gracefully floats in mid-air, vibrating with sounds woven from memories and sensations that cannot be described or conveyed accurately—echoes of existence.
Tony Bontana a Birmingham based rapper, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, is a trailblazer in the UK’s experimental hip-hop landscape, renowned for his self-coined “Splayed” style—a distinctive blend of degraded, manipulated samples, non-linear rhythms, and deeply introspective lyricism, released through his independent label, Everything is Perfect Records.
