Seán Being (Car Musick).
August Kirwin is a traditional Irish dancer and céilí caller from Edmonton, Canada. Building on training in competitive Irish dance, contemporary Irish dance, and sean nós, their practice is about rhythm, pleasure, connection and body politics. For Féile, August danced three pieces at high amplification including Sean Quigley’s Jig and The Priest and His Boots: traditional jigs from Mary and Joe McGuigan. Backfoot, heeldown, ribcage, cut: original choreography — and the Moycullen Set: some easy bits from the fourth figure.

Dan Callanan is a Cork artist living and working in Dublin. In 2020, he founded the Department of Energy (DOE), a DIY imprint rooted in folklore, ecology and Irish identity. Dan's work spans music, publishing, performance and workshops. Jonathan Deasy is a composer and improviser from Cork. Moving between minimal electronics and amplifier-heavy experimental guitar, he draws on microtonality, overtones, distortion, classical composition and jazz. For Féile, Dan Callanan & Jonathan Deasy presented Magnificent Humanity; a piece which warps and weaves the talents of Jonathan Deasy and Liadán Scott-Keogh through a physical, sonic and perhaps spiritual exploration of Irish identity, the nature of labour and the endurance of community against the smoking backdrop of a world in flames.

Seán Being is a musician working across a range of modes of composition and performance, alone and with others, including as a member of the group Princ€ss. For Féile Seán presented “Car Musick”, a performance for cars and drivers. A MIDI horn composition is tuned to the pitches of the horns of three cars and played back through their soundsystems as a multichannel track. On a conductor’s cue, the drivers join in with their horns, creating dense, loud, harmonic clusters. Car Musick has been presented at self-organised and institutional events in Dublin, London, Lisbon and Berlin since 2025.
